In the 18th century geometric forms and minimalist Neoclassical adornments imitating Ancient Roman and Greek architecture influenced the Louis XVI style. Queen Marie-Antoinette, an advocate of the decorative arts, favored intricate marquetry and floral designs that were banded by geometrical trims. The Regiment chest employs an Oak herringbone veneer border with Ribbon Stripe Mahogany “lozenge” shaped detail. The original bail design is a twisted ring motif. The case is crafted of Ribbon Stripe Mahogany veneers and features a stone top. Polished Brass hardware is standard. Pictured in 509 Edenton Satin.
